  1. I think the movie you’re trying to remember might be “Johnny Got His Gun” (1971) written and directed by Dalton Trumbo, a screenwriter blacklisted in the 50’s.

  2. A nautical chart is used to navigate. In order to do that, one draws a line on (yes, ON) the chart of the course plotted. One then draws another line on the chart of the actual daily course with circles indicating the time of the day one’s position was taken. If you do not do this, you will never know where you are in the ocean. This is a web page that will give you an idea of how charts are used: http://www.schoolofsailing.net/plotting-positions-and-courses.html. So, the captain drawing a line on the chart was quite accurate.

    1. OK sits a fair cop. In my defence, my Dad did a sailing course and there were lots of straight lines with rules and implement things – protractors? Jurgan scrawled a big arrow with a pointy bit to show his highly professional crew what direction they were going through the straits of Gibraltar!

But all right then. Not a lime barrel moment. Quite.

  3. I really enjoy the interaction between you and Wolf, I’m ready for y’all to make a buddy cop movie along the lines of Hot Fuzz. HiT is rapidly adding to my film interest rather than letting these gems go. BTW, “One” is an excellent song adaptation of the “Johnny’s got his gun” ,
