Great guest episode with local links for me. Living as I do in Bideford, North Devon, the story of Roanoke is quite well known. Sir Richard Grenville was a Bideford man who featured and the grave of the first Native American to be baptised in England, who was baptised as Raleigh, is in St Mary’s Church at the end of the 13th Century bridge.

Nice link, thanks Garry. I’m just digging in a little bit to the pirates, erm, sailors of Devon and Cornwall in the 15th century, mainly Fowey and Dartmouth as it happens, for a shedcast. So this is great to add grist to the mill!
