    1. My grandmother Betty Hallowell Carew sister to Anne half sister dorcus Hallowell Carew. Betty had daughter Christine my mother she has a son Roy. So there is a connection to Hallowell Carew on my mother’s side. I never new Betty or dorcus. Bettys mother is Lillian kate wisby. . So I am connected to king Henry the eighth via Hallowell Carew.

      1. Betty hallowell carew her father Roy Hallowell carew married Lillian Kate wisby. Betty married and had a daughter Christine(my mother)and had a son Roy. I made a mistake in my other message regarding roy and wanted to clarify and correct information. Thank you

        1. Paula, you have many cousins , and an Aunty….ME….who would love to know you. Betty Hallowell-Carew, my mother, also had other children after Christine (who i met and loved, by the way) others were: Lesley anna known as “mo” – that’s me, Susan Anne, the sister i grew up with) Roy, Ian, Victor, Robert, Zana (known as Lisa and living in wales, UK) So my mother had EIGHT children in all, i only ever knew about Victor. who now lives in Kent, UK. I met Christine after searching for her a long time. I have never met Roy, I met Ian when i was 12 and he was lovely, i also looked for him frantically when i was in the UK, but i never found him and sadly he died alone last year in a hospital in the UK. My mother was an extremely difficult and sadly self obsessed woman, who did not want any of her children, Susie and i both left home very early, sue at 14 and myself at TWELVE years old. It was the only way we could survive. If you would like to know me…..i am in new Zealand and my email is mccannmo@gmail.com. Hope to hear from you darling, love from Aunty Mo.

    2. Hello Ellis Your grandmother Dorcus is either half sister or full sister to my late grandmother Betty whom I have never met. My late mother Christine was Betty’s daughter. I never met Betty. I have met Roy my mother’s brother a couple of times. I now know where his name came from by reading the trail of descendents of hallowell carew. Do you feel like you are royalty? It means my heritage is connected to this line of royalty too sometimes I feel like a royal person.
Any way thank you for this information it adds to the picture of what influences my personality and what my heritage is made up of.

  3. Excellent resource – thanks for putting this together! I was showing this to a friend of mine & she was a little confused that there was no line indicating Mary was the child of Henry VIII & Catherine. Is there some meaning behind that indication?

    1. Hi there, and thanks. It would be exciting if there was an implication….but sadly, just incompetence and a missing line! Sorry…

      1. Hi Dave
I was recently watching a documentary on leeds castle in Kent where my family name pop Meredith. We’ve done research in the past and found that it was a Welsh prince after watching the documentary my sister did some research and found out the Meredith bloodline it is Tudor before Tudor it was Meredith. some research shows a Meredith was buried in leeds church in 1679 September 5. I’m hoping you could find out some more information on this thank’s
        Christopher Meredith.

    2. I think there is always a certain amount of confusion, between Mary the first ,ie bloody Mary and Mary queen of scots.

  4. Edward VI is impressive – he looks like he was king until 1554, a year after he died in 1553. Might be typo there, but then again with Tudors and their propaganda – what information can you trust 😉

  5. I am a defendant of the Tudors but don’t have the right to the name because of the prosecution between King Henry 8th. It was changed from Tudor to Tutor.

  6. I have been told that I am a defendant from King Henry VII. I wish my grandmother was still alive so I could ask more questions, all my mom can remember was they had to run for their lives and change their last name from King to Roy and they landed in Nova Scotia before making their way to New Brunswick!

    1. Roy is a variation of Roi. A French and Belgium title of royalty. Like Rex, Ri, Raja, and King, it is a title of monarch. When Henry VIII had his illegitimate son, he was titled, FitzRoy, meaning royal bastard or illegitimate son of the king. Henry VIII’s last name was Tudor, not King.

  7. I am also suppose to be a descendant of the Royal Tudor family. My Grandpa was English and said we came from Royal descent. Anyway my maiden name is Marsha Jane Whitehurst.

    1. I’m also distantly related to king Henry VIII through my maternal grandmother. My 18th times great grandparents are also Henry’s great grandparents. I’m also distantly related to Martha Dandridge 1st lady of USA George Washington’s wife. She is something like 6th cousin 4 times removed. This is still by blood though distantly related. How cool is all this but it’s nothing special because you only have to go back 1200 years and every body of white European ethnicity is directly descended from king Charlemagne the holy Roman empirer. We are truly all brothers and sisters and that is the coolest part about it in my opinion. You are my family member !!! Lots of love my brother !!!

  8. I have been researching the line of Henry the VII. In some articles, I read that he had a daughter named Cecelia, but in other articles, she isn’t mentioned. I am confused.

    1. Cecelia might be Cicely Grey. Her husband was Thomas Grey, half brother to Elizabeth of York mother of Henry the 8th. This was Anne Frank’s lineage to Henry the 8th via her father Otto Frank Cicely was the second wife of Thomas Grey, they had 14 children. I believe all of this is correct. If someone has other information, I’m open to correction. Thanks! I descend from the Wentworth/Clifford’s leading to Margery Despencer, wife of John Seymour and mother of Jane Seymour, one of Henry the 8th’s wives. I discovered Otto Frank’s lineage from that king while researching my own, as I have a number of ancestors with surname of Frank.

  9. My 12th great grandfather was Lawrence Swetenham of somerford.
We are 8 degrees from Henry the VIII. What does that mean?

    1. Wikipedia explains that his parents were James III of Scotland and Margaret of Denmark. James IV married Margaret Tudor, which is what put his great-grandson James VI of Scotland in line to become James I of England, succeeding Elizabeth I. That connection to the Tudors is also not shown in this family tree. You may want to expand it. Sorry to be so picky but it raised questions that I had to research for myself.

      1. Sorry about that…but there’s no line from Margaret to James IV because James Iv is there as the husband of Margaret as you found out. Underneath Margeret it says ‘married’ and the then (1), (2) (3) for her three husbands.

    1. Windsor came in because the House of Hannover wasn’t such a popular name in WWI England. So, they changed their name to Windsor after the castle they lived in.

  10. yeah Burke Baker claimed that the queen Elizabeth descendant from prophet Muhammad through the Arab kings of Seville who once ruled Spain.

  11. im very new to this..doing my family tree found a 12th grandmother Margret Elizabeth England Tudor.1545 can anyone help or advice.Thank you Ann Ginniver

  12. My maiden name is Tutor… I have traced back with the efforts of my Aunt, back to around 1700 in Wales, but the trail dies after that. I’m thinking of doing 23 and Me to see if I get any hits from someone who’s gotten further along than I have.

  13. I am also a relation of the Tudors, according to my grandfather, who did the research. But that research is lost and I am trying to re-establish the lineage. This is an interesting site. Thanks.

  14. I’m from NZ,I am of Maori descent.ive just traced my lineage through the Bristows line.thats just crazy

  15. Hi. I am new to all of this this is all very confusing and overwhelming I live in southern California and came across all of this information in the beginning of my research I still need to double check the work that I have done but I had no clue that I had royal ancestors not a peep from any family member. All of my family born before me has passed. I would appreciate any suggestions
My first ancestor to come to the us was William Anthony (1695) to Sydney Everton, Clifford , Brandon , to Mary Tudor (1496) and King Henry Vll. There are many others coming from other sides but it’s so much info and I don’t want to broadcast all of this till I’m sure

  17. Wondering…any Tudor or otherdescendants in Europe with the surname DeBeauvernet or
La Spisa. My heart feels such a draw to this family.

  18. I’m researching the Tudor kings, are Robert and John Stanley possibly descended from Henry Stanley and Margaret Clifford? I’ve found some corroborating evidence but nothing I’d consider conclusive.

  19. My father is a Brien and his coat of arms says that we come from King Brian Boru. Then, my husband is a Daigle and his coat of arms says that he comes from Fulbert L’Aigle, of Normandy. His family line connects with King Henry 1 through Gilbert L’Aigle Who drowned with the White Ship along with 2 of his sons, which, King Henry said were his grandsons. The Normandy Dynasty ended & the Plantagenet Dynasty began. Then after King Henry the V11, King Henry the 8th had a daughter, who was Queen Elizabeth 1, but she was childless. I forgot who became heir.

  20. My father was a Brien and his coat of arms says that we come from the ancient King Brian Boru. Then my husband was a Daigle and his coat of arms says that he comes from the L’Aigle of Normandy. Gilbert L’Aigle and 2 of his sons died with the White Ship and King Henry 1 says they were his grandsons. The Normandy Dynasty ended & the Plantagenet Dynasty started because King Henry gave his daughter to a Plantagenet. After King Henry V11, he married into the Tudor Dynasty. King Henry V111 had a daughter by his 2nd wife, who was Queen Elizabeth 1. I forgot the heir after her because she was childless. I think Queen Elizabeth 11 claims to come from King Henry V, by his daughter, Margaret. But I’m not sure.
